Digital Certificate

2024.04~2024.12

In South Korea, the electronic certificate service allows individuals to access various public and administrative documents in digital form. These certificates can be obtained via both PC and mobile platforms, with the mobile option offering fast and secure issuance through streamlined authentication methods like biometric verification, simple authentication (e.g., via KakaoPay or Naver), and financial certification systems. This service enhances efficiency and convenience while providing robust security against forgery and tampering.
This project enabled the digital storage of documents that were previously submitted in paper form, contributing to ESG management by reducing paper usage. Additionally, it significantly reduced processing time for both customers and representatives, enhancing efficiency and user experience. As a Project Manager, I was not only responsible for overseeing the project but also directly designed the user flow and created the UI/UX wireframes.

Submit Only the Essential Certificates,
All at Once with Ease!

I designed the User Flow and UI to enable policyholders to easily submit required documents via mobile when applying for services such as insurance claims and policy loans.
I designed an intuitive interface that displays only the required documents on the main screen, eliminating the need for users to repeatedly check complex document names or verify which certificates need to be submitted.

Service Flow

When customers apply for services via phone consultation or in-person visits, customer service representatives can select the required documents through the internal system and send a site access link to the customer’s mobile number. The submitted documents are then instantly visible on the representative’s monitor in real-time and can be securely stored.

The part I focused on the most in this project was designing a flow that satisfies both internal team members and customers. I carefully crafted the UI and flow so that users can intuitively complete the document submission process without needing extensive explanations.

Key Features and Technology

  • Public Key Infrastructure (PKI):
Electronic certificates leverage PKI technology, employing public and private keys to encrypt and verify documents. Issuing authorities digitally sign the documents to ensure authenticity, and recipients can validate them to confirm integrity

  • Digital Signatures and Authentication:
Certificates are secured using advanced digital signature technology. Users authenticate their identity via biometric verification or other simple methods before accessing the document.

  • Blockchain Integration:
Certain electronic certificate systems utilize blockchain technology to securely record issuance histories, ensuring transparency and immutability of records.

  • Mobile-Centric Accessibility:
The mobile platform simplifies the process, allowing users to authenticate quickly through biometrics or financial certification. Examples of commonly issued documents include resident registration certificates, family relation certificates, tax payment confirmations, health insurance payment records, and military service certificates

Types of Certificates Available

Comparison with the UK

In the UK, a comparable service, GOV.UK Verify, enables users to access government documents using a verified digital identity. However, unlike South Korea's service, it does not offer comprehensive digital issuance or submission of certificates via mobile platforms. South Korea's approach stands out due to its extensive document range and streamlined mobile accessibility, making it a leading example of user-centric digital transformation.
